Homebridge is a lightweight, self-hosted bridge that connects smart home devices which lack native Apple HomeKit support to the Home app and Siri. By running on a local Node.js server, it emulates the HomeKit API, allowing you to control countless non-certified devices using Siri voice commands and Apple’s ecosystem. Operates through a powerful plugin system, with thousands of community-developed plugins available. These plugins create integrations with everything from lights and switches to coffee machines, thermostats, TV remotes, and more.
Despite its power, Homebridge remains simple to deploy, with support for Docker, Raspberry Pi, Windows, macOS, and major Linux distributions. Configuration is done via a user-friendly web UI, where you can install plugins, manage devices, and scan the QR code to add your instance directly to iOS. Once added, accessories appear as if they were native HomeKit devices. It truly expands the capabilities of HomeKit beyond Apple’’’s closed garden.
